Dexter Project Summary

The Dexter project was a major facility conversion and technology upgrade discussed in depth by the team. This project showcases the company’s ability to execute complex, large-scale overhauls under extremely tight deadlines.

Facility Conversion

The project involved taking a former Tyson Chicken kill and cook plant and completely converting it into an egg grading plant.

  • The facility processes raw shell eggs as they come in.
  • The eggs are washed, cleaned, sized, and packaged into cartons and boxes for distribution to grocery stores.
  • Allows expansion of farm operations.

Project Scope and Execution

The scope of the project was massive, a “complete gut job” of a kill and cook plant originally built in the 1970s. Key aspects of the execution included.

The team gutted the building, ripped out existing walls, and even pulled the roof off to bring in new equipment.

The installation required the removal of approximately four miles of hand-welded, TIG-in-place stainless steel tubing, along with all associated control wiring.
